Night and Lights

1. Guitar: Rexburg, ID on 11/10/10 at 6:14 PM - Sony Cybershot 1/25 s at f/2.8
This shot was fun, but really hard to take. I had to mess with the shutter speed a lot in order to get an image I was pleased with. I had to take my guitar into our kitchen pantry because I wanted a wood floor and it needed to be really dark.
2. Single Star: Rexburg, ID on 11/10/10 at 9:14 PM - Sony Cybershot 1/2 s at f/2.7
For this picture I just arranged glowsticks into the shape of a star and took a still shot of it.
3. Double: Rexburg, ID on 11/10/10 at 9:17 PM - Sony Cybershot 1/2 s at f2.7
For this shot I just moved my camera slowly to the right over the 2 seconds of exposure.
4. Shooting Star: Rexburg, ID on 11/10/10 at 9:21 PM - Sony Cybershot 1/3 s at f/2.7
This time I wanted it to look like a shooting star, so I lengthened the exposure time to 3 seconds and slowly moved my camera upward
5. Peace: Rexburg, ID on 11/10/10 at 7:38 PM - Sony Cybershot 1/5 at f/2.7
I took a blue glow stick and outlined a peace sign against a white wall for this picture. Getting the right shutter speed was hard because a lot of times the color looked blown out and you couldn't really tell what it was.
6. Temple: Rexburg, ID on 11/10/10 at 9:52 PM - Sony Cybershot 1/3 at f/8
I really like the stop lights and the street lights in this picture. During the time I started the picture the red light was actually yellow so I like how it looks a little bit orange in this picture.

I like how creative you can get with night and light shots. There are a lot of options and it is crazy the things that you can do depending on your shutter speed and different objects that you have around the house.

Photo Edits: Cutouts

4. Shoes Original: Rexburg, ID on 11/10/10 at 9:32 PM - Sony Cybershot 1/6 s at f/2.8
5. Purple: Cutout using the quick select tool and magnetic lasso. Erased the background with different size eraser tool
6. Purple Original: BYU-I Campus in Rexburg, ID on 9/27/10 at 12:51:35 PM - Sony Cybershot 1/80 s at f/2.7
7. Partial: Cutout using the quick select tool and magnetic lasso. Erased the background with different size eraser tool but left some of the background
8. Partial Original: BYU-I Campus in Rexburg, ID on 9/27/10, 12:55:21 PM - Sony Cybershot 1/40 s at f/2.7

These cut outs were fun to do. It is nice to have a single image so you can drag it on different backgrounds if you need to. I think my favorite of these shots is the horse. I like the original, but the cut out turned out nice, too.

Created a layer mask and used the history brush with different brush sizes and strokes to have the painted on look. Added a smart filter to look more artistic and painted on the canvas.

I think Colorado is gorgeous. I chose these pictures because I love that place more than any other in the world. One of my favorite things to do there is go up to the mountains. I think these photos just depict the perfection that Heavenly Father created and I love the fall colors. This was a really great day and I am glad that I have these pictures to cherish it forever.

Photo Journal Edits and Photolusion

TEMPLATE

Week of Pictures
For my week of photos I customized the template that was provided for us to use. I changed the font and wording to match my pictures and then by using a clipping mask I was able to insert my pictures from the week. The clipping mask allowed me to save a lot of time because I just had to click on the layer and drag my image. Then I could re-size and rotate my pictures to match the template. What a great help this method will be!

 PHOTOLUSION:
In the Palm of His Hand: Rexburg, ID on 11/1/10 at 5:48 PM - 1/125 s at f/5.7

Big Foot: Rexburg, ID on 11/1/10 at 5:46 PM - 1/100 s at f/5
These are the non-edited Photolusions that I tried. Looking back, I wish I would have gone to an open field where there wasn't any cars around because I think the illusion isn't as good with the background noise. However, I do like the concept and my "models" had a fun time with these poses.

PHOTOLUSION EDIT:
Trapt: For this edit, I just used the majic wand and magnetic lasso tool to erase the background image. Then I used a layer mask to hide/reveal the string.

Guitar: Rexburg, ID 1/2/10 at 12:34 AM - 1/5 s at f/2.7

This was a fun week of photos! The first picture is just a silk flower that I have at home. I used a white background to make it stand out. The second shot is of some shoes that my sister and I designed. Every Halloween weekend she comes to visit and we do some sort of "craft." I love them! The third shot I used a timer and zoom. It is my roommate and I before going to a friend's birthday party. The next picture is of some nail polish. I chose to photograph this because my roommates and I frequently paint our nails and watch movies together. Day 5 is a picture of my niece, Halle. My brother and his family live in Salt Lake and they were in Pocatello for the day. I went down for a few hours and visited and this is the shot I got of Hal. Day 6 was actually taken fairly early in the day and the way that the clouds are it looked more like dusk. I used camera raw to enhance the sky color and make it more yellow. The last picture is of my ball and shoes. Pretty much as much as I can, I try and go play basketball. My roommate and I typically go after FHE so I snapped this shot on our way out the door.
